John C. Goodhart
Vice Commander, Naval Supply Systems Command
Mr. John C. Goodhart became the Vice Commander and senior civilian of the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) in April 2006. As the number two official in the NAVSUP enterprise, Mr. Goodhart leads a worldwide workforce of over 22,500 military and civilian personnel, both in day-to-day operations and in strategic planning and business transformation. He has been a member of the Senior Executive Service since July 2002.
NAVSUP's primary mission is to provide U.S. naval forces with quality supplies and services. The organization oversees logistics programs in the areas of supply operations, conventional ordnance, contracting, resale, fuel, transportation, and security assistance. In addition, NAVSUP is responsible for quality-of-life issues for our naval forces, including food service, postal services, Navy Exchanges, and movement of household goods.
Before coming to NAVSUP, Mr. Goodhart served as Assistant Deputy Commander, Fleet Logistics Support in the Logistics, Maintenance and Industrial Operations Directorate at the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). He was the senior logistician at NAVSEA, responsible for logistics policy, processes, tools, and execution of both acquisition logistics and in-service support.
He also served as the Deputy Site Director of Mechanicsburg Operations, Naval Sea Logistics Center.
A central Pennsylvania native, Mr. Goodhart graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland University College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. He was named Executive of the Year by the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the Federal Executive Association, was co-winner of NAVSEA's Logistician of the Year Award, and received the Admiral Stan Arthur Award for leading the Naval Logistics Team of the Year. In 2002, Mr. Goodhart received the Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award. In 2006, Mr. Goodhart received the Department of the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award.
