The supply function of Fleet Activities Yokosuka was first created when the U.S. Navy assumed control of Yokosuka Naval Station on August 30,1945. Later, the Korean War  logistics requirements mandated a more robust supply system, so the Navy established and commissioned the Naval Supply Depot (NSD) in August 1952. NSD continued to supply the fleet in the Western Pacific through the Vietnam War.

It wasn’t until 1993 that NSD’s name was changed to Fleet and Industrial Supply Center (FISC) Yokosuka, after assuming additional tasks due to the closure of U.S. facilities in the Philippines and Guam, an increased supply inventory, and the expansion and modernization of information and technology.
