Captain Christopher S. Bower

Captain Chris Bower, SC, USN, is currently assigned as the Deputy Commander, Navy Exchange Service Command, in Virginia Beach, VA.
Captain Bower is a native of Coronado, CA. Captain Bower graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering from the California Maritime Academy, where he received his commission in 1987 through the direct commissioning program. He earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Kansas in 1998.
Captain Bower’s initial sea tour was aboard USS TOWERS (DDG-9), homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. Following completion of the Supply Corps Basic Qualification Course he served as the disbursing and sales aboard USS RACINE (LST-1191), homeported in Long Beach, CA, where he “fleeted up” to then serve as the Supply Officer. He later served as material division officer and stock control officer aboard USS CONSTELLATION (CV-64), homeported in San Diego, CA.
Captain Bower’s assignments ashore include an internship at the Naval Regional Contracting Center, San Diego, CA, in the Navy Acquisition Contracting Officer program; Director, Fuel Department, and Assistant Supply Officer Naval Air Facility Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT); Budget Officer, Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection, Chief of Naval Operations, Washington DC; Deputy ACOS for Logistics at Commander Logistics Group, Western Pacific, Singapore; and Director, Logistics Operations, Naval Operational Logistics Support Center, Norfolk, VA.
Captain Bower was promoted to his current rank in June 2009. His personal awards include four Meritorious Service Medals, three Navy Commendation Medals, two Navy Achievement Medals and various campaign and unit awards. He is a qualified Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer and a Naval Aviation Supply Officer. Captain Bower is also a member of the Navy Acquisition Professional Community.
