The Personal Telecommunications Ashore program provides a variety of telecommunications services on Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard installations worldwide. These include pay phones, calling cards, prepaid cards, Navy Lodge in-room service, Bachelor Quarters in-room service, long distance service, cellular service, voice mail, Internet service and port calls. All unofficial personal telecommunications are coordinated with the Headquarters, Marine Corps and the Coast Guard Exchange Service, as well as with appropriate headquarters and field commands within the Navy.
The Afloat Personal Telecommunications Program (APTS) provides personal calling on board U.S. Navy Ships using high quality satellite connectivity. Ship's service is based on their operational schedule and other considerations per their Type Commanders.

Many NEX phone services are also available to Sailors and their families for personal use off base. Most of the services are offered through a partnership with AT&T and other companies, providing high quality service to enhance military quality of life.
