Staying Connected Around the World and Around the Clock

Long deployments, frequent separations and new duty stations can make keeping in touch with loved ones difficult. NEXCOM offers many services that help our customers connect to others all over the world.

AT&T's Direct Ocean ServiceSM (DOS) provides personal calling from U.S. Navy ships using high quality satellite connectivity. Sailors and Marines can use an AT&T Calling Card or AT&T Global PrePaid Card (GPPC) to place calls via AT&T's DOS. The cost of a call from most ships back to the U.S. using either card is $.45 per minute. The AT&T GPPC can be purchased in any ship's store and is available for $20. The GPPC can also be used to make calls within the U.S. or at overseas ports (ashore) to anywhere in the U.S. or its territories. The rates will vary depending on where the call originates.

The AT&T calling card with the Global Military Saver PlusSM (GMSP) plan offers special benefits regardless of the location where the call is placed. GMSP provides $.45 per minute calling, via AT&T's DOS from most ships back to the U.S. and variable flat rate pricing from overseas ports (ashore) back to the U.S. or its territories. This flat rate means there are no per call service charges, international calling fees or high first minute rate as is normal for overseas telephone calls. A $1 monthly fee is billed to the calling card. You have the option of having bills sent directly to the ship or to your home address. Automatic fund transfer is also available for those who are interested.

AT&T's DOS is an important quality of life program. Just like the rest of the profits from the ship's store, profits from the sale of the AT&T GPPC stay aboard ship to support shipboard quality of life programs.
