NAVSUP serves as the lead organization for all logistics support functions associated with the Navy's Pollution Prevention (P2) and Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) Control and Management (HMC&M) Programs. Logistics support functions include implementation, operations, sustainment, and reporting on the Navy's Consolidated Hazardous Material Reutilization and Inventory Management Program (CHRIMP). In addition, NAVSUP maintains HAZMAT IT systems for both installations and surface ships; manages HAZMAT data to support mandatory environmental reporting; supports the Navy's Green Procurement Program (GPP); provides expertise to the Secretary of the Navy and the Chief of Naval Operations on emerging chemicals/contaminants; and develops Navy policy and training for HAZMAT personnel.
