The Uniform Program Management Office (UPMO) is responsible for the execution of the Navy Uniform Program including uniform policy recommendations, product improvement, design change, uniform development and Fleet introduction. UPMO’s top priorities include availability, continuously improving fit, comfort, safety, and durability with the goal of providing 100 percent customer satisfaction on all uniform items.
UPMO acts as the coordinator of all stakeholders in uniform policy. Stakeholders include Navy Supply Systems Command, Uniform Matters Office, Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, Defense Supply Center Philadelphia, Pa., Navy Clothing and Textile Research Center (NCTRF), Recruit Training Center and Naval Services Training Command. UPMO also has oversight responsibility of all uniform items sold in NEXs worldwide including uniforms, insignia, headwear, footwear and accessories.
NEXs stock only authorized uniforms for both U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps officer and enlisted personnel. There are three convenient ways to purchase a Navy or Marine Corps uniform.
NEX Uniform Shops, located on Navy installations, stock an assortment of uniforms designed to meet the installation’s mission. A knowledgeable and friendly staff of NEX Uniform Shop associates as well as skilled seamstresses and tailors are on site to ensure each customer has a uniform that fits. All NEX Uniform Shops have a "red phone" with an automatic direct dial connection to a Uniform Support Center customer service agent, allowing customers to purchase items or sizes not offered in the store.
Uniforms can also be purchased through the Uniform Support Center’s toll-free numbers from almost anywhere around the world. Customer service agents are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week to take orders and answer questions. Most uniform orders placed either through the Uniform Support Center or online reach the customer within 10–14 days. Click here for toll-free phone numbers from outside the United States.
For added convenience, Navy and Marine Corps uniforms that require embroidery may request items be sewn onto the uniform prior to shipping. Uniform items requiring embroidery will be processed and shipped within 48 hours of being ordered. Regular shipping is free, with delivery taking 10 – 14 days.
Finally, Navy and Marine Corps uniform items can be ordered online using the MILITARY STAR® card or other major credit card. Only authorized patrons can access the site to make purchases.
